To say that I’m a cynic wouldn’t be far from the truth. I’m not a person that you would initially label as a spiritualist. I believe, to some extent, in another dimension, but I’m a complete chicken and I choose not to delve too deep into the unknown.
I’ve recently been dabbling in some natural healing methods to alleviate myself of the stress and anxiety that I’ve suffered (read my blog post on it here). One method, in particular, has opened the door to a new obsession that I never thought I would adopt.
Crystal healing therapy involves the use of naturally formed crystals to absorb, focus, direct and diffuse our energy fields to enable a diseased or out of balance body to find its natural energetic rhythm once again. Crystals emit tiny electrical impulses which are received and recognised via the body’s neurological system. Each crystal has its own unique power of energy and the correct placement of the ‘correct’ crystal can promote mental and physical harmony.
Sounds about as new-age as a hippie, bra-burning session doesn’t it? Well don’t be too quick to judge. Crystal therapy has turned this cynic into a true believer that we don’t need to pump our bodies full of drugs to tackle life’s problems.
I won’t pretend that I’m now an expert on crystal therapy. In fact, I’m a complete novice. Most of my knowledge comes from advice of others or from a particular book; which has taught me all of the basics that I need to know. “Crystal Prescriptions: The A-Z guide to over 1,200 symptoms and their healing crystals” by Judy H Hall is a great starting point for anyone wishing to dabble in a bit of crystal healing without being too overbearing.
So which crystals should you keep in your home? Well that’s not for me to say, despite the title of the blog post. Crystals are one of the most personalised objects that you will ever be in possession of and those which you feel the greatest connection to when you hold them are often the ones for you. Since acquiring my chosen crystals I’ve felt a great sense of calm and tranquillity within my home and within myself. Now if I was a ‘glass half empty’ kinda girl my scepticism would go into overdrive. How could a rock help me with my state of mind?! Thankfully I’m not so cynical and I’ve opened my mind to the possibilities.
Here are the crystals that I keep in my home and the uses for their power:-
Rose Quartz – Labelled as ‘the ultimate love stone’. Rose quartz opens up the heart chakra and promotes love in all forms (self-love, family, romance, etc). It’s a powerful harmoniser of the body’s energies and its myriad properties work at getting us back in touch with love by removing emotional wounds. Rose Quartz chunks sprinkled throughout your home infuses a deep healing and rejuvenating energy and inspires those who dwell there to always invoke love and compassion.
Amethyst – This deep purple stone works as a meditative and calming crystal to promote emotional, spiritual and physical calm. It’s great at removing impatience and purifies any negative energy. If tempers run high, having Amethyst in your home can ensure a good balance and help you in keeping anger to a minimum. There’s no particular place where you would need to put this crystal, but an area which causes the most amount of disagreements would be the best place to start (mine’s definitely around the bathroom).
Black Tourmaline – This is one of the most powerful protection stones around. Negative energies, entities or destructive forces are dispelled. It guards against radiation and environmental pollutants, and is highly useful in purifying and neutralizing one’s own negative thoughts and internal conflicts, and turning them into positive, usable energy. Black Tourmaline is also powerful as a grounding stone, providing a connection between Earth and the human spirit. It promotes a sense of power and self-confidence, allowing for a clearer, more objective view of the world. It is empowering to those who live or work in challenging environments or those who face difficult circumstances. I find it best to wear my Black Tourmaline as a bracelet (or any other form of jewellery), rather than just placing it in the home.
Smoky Quartz – Another hugely powerful protection stone. What sets this apart from Black Tourmaline is that it possess the power redirect negative energy back into the Earth to be neutralised naturally. This stone absorbs significant amounts of negative energy and provides a vital shield. Having Smoky Quartz alongside Black Tourmaline isn’t a bad idea as they both work in perfect harmony together, but my choice in Smoky Quartz was mostly to control the anxiety attacks I would often get. Smoky Quartz is extensively used in holistic treatments and meditation for its ability to make the world feel like a better place.
Lapis Lazuli – Labeled as the stone of ‘wisdom and truth’. Lapis Lazuli is a powerful crystal for activating the higher mind and enhancing intellectual ability. It stimulates the desire for knowledge, truth and understanding, and aids the process of learning, as well as enhancing your memory. Lapis Lazuli also encourages deep communication and attention-deficits. If you find that communication (lack of or in an incorrect form) is a problem, this stone is for you.
Citrine – This is a very joyful stone; which brings bright energy, good fortune and good luck to you and your family. This well known crystal works at bringing success and prosperity to your home. A stronger, more focused mind is induced; which brings power and motivation to your goals. Keeping Citrine in your home will ensure that the sun will continue to shine on you and your family.
